NFC may slower than Bluetooth, and it may work only in short range (4cm to 20cm) however it has one thing that BlueTooth does not have. It does not require “pairing of devices” this enables it to be used for one to any communication at very short distance. Moreover, it can work with cheaper antena loop. Why is it going to be popular? because, Google Wallet just launched NFC usage for a consumer payment. Google’s choice of NFC shows that it is mature enough that vendors are ready to go with it. Of course, it is not yet secure. However, since it works over a very short range, the security fear is less worrisome as of now. May be in future it needs to deal with it.
