Parameters for Measuring ‘Social Media’ Influence Metrics According to Paul Gillin

While reading “The New Influencers” written by Paul Gillin, I came across some paramters he mentioned to measure the influence:

  • Is the influencer frequently quoted in maistream media?
  • What’s the competetive environment? How many other influencers are targetting the topic?
  • How many comments does the influencers get for each blog post?
  • Does the influencer work in multiple media? e.g.blogs, podcasts, and writings

Of course, these metrics has been compiled more for blogging than for twitting. But if you understand the essence, the twitter influence can be measured as :

  • How many followers for the tweeter?
  • How many retweets?
  • Is the content is blog post of the user or its someone else article / blog?

Any other parameter?
